SUMMARY:Jrs Comedy Club: Matt Kirshen
DESCRIPTION:Since 2001\, Kirshen has become a frequent performer at London clubs including the Comedy Store\, and has completed several university tours. Kirshen was a finalist in So You Think You’re Funny? at the 2003 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was named Hackney Empire New Act of the Year. In 2007\, he was one of the final seven comics in NBC’s reality TV show Last Comic Standing. In 2008\, he recorded a 30-minute special for Paramount Comedy\, now known as Comedy Central (UK and Ireland). In 2009\, he co-wrote and starred in the BBC Radio 4 sketch comedy series Bigipedia. He also released an album entitled I Guess We’ll Never Know\,[4] which ranked in Punchline magazine’s Top 10 comedy albums of 2009.[5] In an appearance on the podcast International Waters\, he vowed that “the world has seen the last of The Wilf”\, although when pressed\, he joked\, “Well\, I guess we’ll never know”\, in reference to his album of the same name.[6] In 2016\, Kirshen voiced Hugh on The Loud House episode “Study Muffin”. His international stand-up performances include Singapore\, Dubai\, the Netherlands\, Germany\, and France.[3] \nKirshen wrote for The Jim Jefferies Show on Comedy Central\,[7] for which he was nominated for a 2018 Writers Guild of America Award\,[8] and for season 5 of Arrested Development. \n  \nPlease note\, there is a 2 item per person minimum in the showroom. \nIf you are planning to have dinner\, please note that you should arrive between 5:30 and 6:00. The panel\, “Making Star Wars”\, will include: \n\nPropstore’s Brandon Alinger\nProperty Master’s Brad Elliott (Obi Wan Kenobi)\nRosemary Brandenburg is working on a show in Atlanta and will not be available for the July 20th talk. Assistant Property Master Greg Finnin (Obi Wan Kenobi\, Book of Boba Fett\, The Mandalorian) will take her place.\n\nGuests can bring their own Star Wars inspired and handmade props to show our panel of industry professionals. \nPresident Reagan announced on March 23\, 1983 his intention to start groundbreaking research into a national defense system that would make nuclear weapons obsolete. This national defense system was called the Strategic Defense Initiative or SDI. Prior to all of this\, George Lucas created Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope. Our new exhibit\, which is fun and informative\, showcases the intersection of SDI and the movie franchise. It includes items from SDI\, as well as props\, costumes\, and concept art from the Star Wars Franchise. \nYou will be served a Star Wars themed three-course meal while learning more about the “Making of Star Wars” from our special panel of speakers. DESCRIPTION:Prerequisite: Any Discovery Class\, the Forge Safety Workshop and Adam’s Forge Membership  \nPlease note: Beginning on January 1\, 2024\, all attendees of Open Forge sessions must have successfully passed the Forge Safety class\, which is free to members and available for sign-up on the class calendar. If you wish to use the power hammers\, you must have successfully passed the Power Hammer Safety class. \nNot a class\, but a swell time to get in the forge to do what you wanna do. You can bring your own material and work on your own project. This can be a chance to finish that piece you started or work out a technique you’ve been meaning to try. One of our intrepid instructors will be on hand for supervision and guidance\, although these are not teaching workshops. \nPlease note: these sessions are intended to support our students as they practice skills that are within their ability range.  Please do not use our forge and tools to experiment with new techniques that are beyond your skill level.  When in doubt\, ask the instructor. \nAs with all of our workshops\, we require that students attending Open Forge sessions be at least 12 years old. A student who is not an adult (18 and older) will need to have a parent or guardian present at ALL times during the session.
