SUMMARY:Navigating the Workplace: How to Succeed Workshop
DESCRIPTION:YES Summer Workshop Series Hosted by the Youth Employment Service and Simi Valley Public Library\n  \nAs part of the YES Summer Workshop Series\, the YES and Public Library will host four workshops for young adult job seekers.  On August 8\, 2024\, the Navigating the Workplace; How to Succeed Workshop will focus on employer expectations once they hire you and how to avoid common mistakes that could lead to the loss of a job or receiving minimal work hours. Participants will learn how to gain job skills and show initiative as an employee through free LinkedIn Learning courses and certificate programs available for Library card holders.  Participants will also learn important soft skills\, including workplace communication etiquette. \nReserving a seat is recommended as seating is limited. The YES also refers applicants to available jobs year round through its Job Posting Service offered to Simi Valley Employers.

There’s no need to feel pressure to participate at your first club meeting – you can simply observe if you wish. And since every club is unique\, it’s OK to visit several clubs before you decide to join the right club for you. Have a great first meeting! \nHow Do I Join? \nJoining is as easy as 1-2-3! \nStep 1: \nVisit the Toastmasters club \n\nYou may wish to visit more than once.  Visits are free and you may return as often as you like.\nIt’s a good idea to call or email in advance to confirm a group’s meeting time and location.\n\nStep 2: \nAt the meeting\, ask the President or the vice president membership for a membership application and fill it out.   New membership application can be found under the New Membership Application or on the Free downloads tabs. \nStep 3: \n\nGive your application and dues to the President or to the vice president membership at the club.\nOnce you are voted in by the existing membership\, the club officer will send your application and fees to Toastmasters’ World Headquarters.\nYour New Member Kit should arrive in the mail in about two weeks (kits outside of the U.S. may take longer).\n\nIt’s as easy as that! \nCome and see what Simi Valley Toastmasters is up to in the next few months! \nMeets every Thursday\, 7:15pm
